Knowmia has supported so many teachers flipping their classrooms, it’s especially popular in U.S. We’ve covered their free iPad App – Knowmia Teach (iTunes link), which can replace the paid App – Explain Everything. And it’s not just a video recording tool, it connects to a whole lot more support for teachers! In case you aren’t aware of their free resources for creating dynamic lessons, here they are:
Inspiration Corner : featuring a wide range of video lessons from teachers who have used Knowmia Teach and other lesson creation tools;
How-To Guide : helping teachers create quality video lessons including a list of tools and their pros and cons
Chapter 1: Using iPad tools
Chapter 2: Recording yourself with a camcorder
Chapter 3: Using screencasting tools
Now they have new offerings for educators. The following is updating about the new free features from Knowmia.
New! – Interactive Assignments
We’ve launched our new Assignment Wizard (available now in public beta) for teachers to build assignments using a combination of video lessons, questions and slides and then track students’ performance in real-time. See two example assignments (Chemistry and US History), watch a short introduction video and learn more about how to build a new assignment.
This free tool is completely web-based (all you need is a web browser) and it lets you define assignments as a sequence of three simple building blocks: video lessons, slides and questions. Click here to activate a beta invitation and give it a test drive.
New! – Student Content Creation
Now students can use the free Knowmia Teach iPad app and our online tools to create video lessons for their class and share them securely. Only individuals given the protected link can view a student’s lesson. Student lessons require less personal information to register, they cannot be found using the search tool, their URL (link) is encrypted and they expire after 4 weeks.
Check out this tutorial video, which helps teachers get their students started creating video lessons.
The co-founder of Knowmia, Ariel Braunstein, has a long relation and passion with video creation. Maybe you already feel it in the above demo videos.
