Technology Helps Teachers Reinforce Content, Survey Says

educational technologyTeachers from pre-kindergarten to high school say technology helps them reach students, and they would like more of it.

PBS LearningMedia survey of 503 U.S. teachers found that 74 percent said technology allows them to reinforce and expand on content. It also helps 74 percent of them motivate students to learn and assists 73 percent of them in responding to different learning styles.

In low-income schools, three-quarters of teachers said they wanted more classroom technology, while 68 percent of all teachers said they could use some additional technology. Currently, 90 percent of the teachers surveyed can access at least one PC or laptop for their class, and 59 percent have access to an interactive whiteboard.

Last year, 20 percent of teachers could access a tablet or e-reader. But that number has jumped to 35 percent this year.

The survey, conducted by VeraQuest Inc. in January 2013, had a margin of error of +/-4.4 percent.
