The Angry Birds have taken flight in CERN as CERN Director General Rolf Heuer and Rovio Mighty Eagle, CMO Peter Vesterbacka announced the start of a new collaboration on fun learning experiences. This was also the kick-off for Rovio’s new brand, Angry Birds Playground, a learning programme for 3 to 8-year-olds based on the Finnish National Curriculum for kindergarten. The Rovio-CERN collaboration is looking into ways of developing amazing learning resources.
Angry Birds Playground collaborates with the best partners on the planet and all possible dimensions to make learning fun. Collaboration with CERN is a natural choice after working with great partners such as the National Geographic Society.
“Modern physics has been around for 100 years, but it’s still a mystery to many people. Working together with Rovio, we can teach kids quantum physics by making it fun and easy to understand,” said CERN’s Head of Education, Rolf Landua, at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
“It’s a great fit for both sides, combining physics and Angry Birds in a fun way. Rovio has a great platform, with a broad reach and highly engaged fans, which makes this collaboration very promising. With Rovio and Angry Birds Playground, we get a great channel to communicate what CERN does,” said Landua.
“Rovio and Angry Birds Playground make learning fun,” said Peter Vesterbacka, Mighty Eagle and CMO. “When you’re really interested, you can learn anything. With Playground products, kids can have fun and learn more about physics than they would’ve in the ‘old-fashioned’ style of learning. I’ve been to CERN and experienced it myself. It’s a fun place to visit!”
Rovio has already demonstrated its reach with its first book app, Bad Piggies Egg Recipes, which launched yesterday. The app is already the #1 paid book app for iPad across the globe, including in the US, Canada, France, Germany, and Spain.
