Connecting dots for digital learning and teaching

Hands-On Learning with Universe Quest Game

The Universe Quest Game is an element of Universe Quest (a US NSF-ITEST program) and is a collaboration between University of California, Berkeley (Space Sciences Laboratory), Girl Scouts of Northern California (Girls go Tech program) and Learnit3D Ltd.

Universe Quest inspires girls to build a personal connection with science and technology, using astronomy and game development, while empowering them with skills they need to succeed in their education and life.

There Are No Limits in the “Universe Quest”! The girls moved from classroom to observatory to beach, learning about astronomy, video games and digital photography. Universe Quest is one of more than 140 NSF projects supported by the Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program. The program includes research studies and strategies for K-12 students and teachers. ITEST focuses on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Another ITEST goal is to encourage careers in information technology. (read this post on NSF site)

Now you can create your own Universe Quest game too, follow this link to Thinking World site to download the free game creation tool and assets. Or contact Professor Carl Pennypacker for further information. Thinking World is free to use for non-commercial use.
